Edita Manak is the principal psychologist and founder of EM Counselling and Psychology. Edita is a registered Educational and Developmental psychologist who completed her Master's Degree in Educational and Developmental Psychology at Monash University. Edita has also completed an accreditation process with EMDRAA and is registered as an EMDRAA Accredited Practitioner.

Over the last decade, Edita has worked in tertiary public mental health (ELMHS, Monash Health), private practice, and also in primary and secondary schools.

Edita enjoys working with children, adolescents and young adults. She typically applies principles of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), arts therapy, mindfulness, play therapy and family therapy.

Edita has a special interest in supporting young people experiencing a range of difficulties, ranging from trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, bullying to explosive behaviour. Edita works from a neurodiversity affirming framework recognizing the importance of valuing differences in how our brains work.

Edita recognizes that early support from a therapist can lead to long lasting changes in child’s life. Edita is passionate about helping children (and their families) achieve their best in terms of mental health and emotional well-being, and also creating supportive social networks. She feels strong about building positive partnerships between child, family, school and wider community to ensure best outcomes.

When not in the office, Edita is typically out and about with her family, exploring the beautiful nature and wildlife that you can find in Melbourne and surrounds. And if somehow miraculously she has time in the future, she would like to spend it painting or reading books next to a fireplace.
